The SMEZON catalogue ran to more than a thousand individual lines filed under eleven headings. This index preserves that structure and describes what each heading covered. Individual product listings are not reproduced — the business has stopped trading, so prices and stock figures would be misleading — but the shape of the range, the size coverage and the product types are all recorded here.

How to read the range

Three things about this catalogue are worth knowing before you use the index.

Headings are functional, not material. A part is filed by what it does in a plant rather than by what it is made of. That is why brass and plastic valves share a heading with steel flanges, and why the aluminium heading is dominated by ladders and fasteners rather than by aluminium stock.

Cross-tagging is normal. Around a third of all lines appeared under two headings. Nylon rope sits in Tools and in Pulling Support. Bubble roll sits in Packaging and in Safety. Earthing material sits in Electric and in Safety. This reflects how the items are actually used, and it means the same product may be described on two of the pages below.

Duplicate names are different specifications. Where the catalogue lists two entries with the same name — two chain pulley blocks, two air hoses, three bushes — these are distinct specifications or sources kept in parallel, not a listing error.

The eleven lines

Mechanical and fixing

  • Tools — 49 lines. Fasteners and studding, carbide and HSS drills, resin-bonded cutting and grinding wheels, welding consumables, gear hob cutters, bridge bearing pads and packing tapes.
  • Aluminium — 69 lines, the largest single heading. Folding ladders, sample bottles, anchor fasteners, socket-head and countersunk screws, and the fabrication hardware that goes with them.
  • Others — 84 lines. General engineering consumables: bushes and bush couplings, bevel gears, spurs, caster wheels, brake liner, hard rubber section, EPDM, carbon, adhesive and grease.

Fluid handling

  • Pipes & Pipes Fitting — 48 lines. Ball, butterfly, check, brass and float valves, CPVC valves, elbows, flanges, forged and flare fittings, ferrule and hydraulic fittings, stop cocks, boiler nozzles, air hose, flexible pipe, gasket sheet and gland packing, in twenty reducing sizes from 20×15 to 100×65.
  • Oil — 4 lines. Gear and engine oils, hydraulic fluid and silicone fluid.

Power transmission and lifting

  • Machinery Belts — 6 lines. V-belts, timing belts, harvester combine belts and lifting belts.
  • Pulling Support — 15 lines. Chain pulley blocks, auto and manual pulleys, D-shackles, nylon and plastic rope, spurs and couplings.

Protection and electrical

  • Safety — 23 lines. Helmets, corded ear plugs, dielectric non-conductive harnesses, electrical rubber matting, first aid boxes and pouches, flameproof junction boxes, cut and expanded-graphite gaskets, ceramic rope, fibreglass rope and sleeving, heat-insulating tape, blanket and glasswool.
  • Electric — switchgear and control-panel accessories, MCBs, contactors, DOL starters, emergency stop buttons, ammeters and clamp meters, fuses, cable glands, armoured and industrial cable, earthing material, flameproof and high-bay lighting, flood lights, high-mast solar lighting, industrial exhaust and cooling fans.

Consumables

  • Cleaning — 5 lines. Cotton rag, sponge, squeegee wipers and sink organisers.
  • Gift and Packaging — 11 lines. Corrugated cartons, sheet and roll, chevron boxes and bottle packaging, bubble roll, foam sheet, plastic packaging film and plastic rope.

Size and specification coverage

Two headings carried published size facets, and they are a good indication of how the range was pitched. The pipe fitting line covered twenty reducing combinations — 20×15, 25×15, 25×20, 32×15, 32×20, 32×25, 40×15, 40×20, 40×25, 40×32, 50×15, 50×20, 50×25, 50×32, 50×40, 65×50, 80×50, 80×65, 100×50 and 100×65. The safety line carried a thickness facet from 1 mm to 10 mm, which applies to the gasket, rubber matting and insulating sheet materials.

Neither of those is a consumer range. They are the sizes a maintenance store keeps because a plant that has grown over thirty years has every one of those transitions somewhere in it.

Standards behind the range

Most of what is described in this index is specified against a published standard rather than a brand. Valve and flange dimensions follow the pressure-piping codes maintained by ASME; electrical equipment for hazardous areas follows the international series published by the IEC; material and test methods across fasteners, gaskets and rubber goods are covered by ASTM International.
